April Book Club: Retro fun!

Monday, April 24, 7:30 p.m.

You know how some months you just don’t have time to read the book for book club? You’re always welcome to come anyway, but for April’s meeting at Stephanie Cooper’s house (161 Highview Dr), she’s picked a fast, fun read that will take us back to our younger years: Stacey and the Missing Ring by Ann M. Martin. So you can go eat junk food at someone else’s house – just like when you were babysitting! Hope to see you there.

Bunco Night in April

Wednesday, April 5, 7:00 PM

Our inaugural meeting of the  Babes of Bunco, USC Newcomers Club, was lots of fun, as maybe you heard if you weren’t there. The plan is to play on the first Wednesday of every month, so our next meeting will be April 5 at 7:00 p.m. at Frances Scher’s home (1025 Tall Trees Dr.). Bring a snack to share and $5 so we can offer cash prizes to four lucky winners! If you can’t make it every time, we can use subs from time to time. No experience required! We will explain the rules each time. Just a fun, get-to-know you type of dice game for ladies only. You’ll be glad you came!

March book club: Lilac Girls

Please join us on Monday, March 27, at 7:30, at Ann Marie Pirnat’s home (2150 Meadowmont Dr) for March’s book club meeting to discuss Martha Hall Kelly’s novel Lilac Girls. Even if (or perhaps especially if) the last thing you read was Good Night, Moon, please come for the laughter, food and drinks. I know this has been written often, but if you don’t have time to read the book please come anyway. Reading the book may be an easy way to create a common connection, but forming friendships certainly doesn’t involve required reading.

Couples event: Church Brew Works

Saturday, March 18, 6 p.m.
Church Brew Works
Pittsburgh Brewery & Restaurant in an Historic Church
3525 Liberty Avenue
Pittsburgh, PA 15201

Here’s the story… none of the local brewpubs will take reservations but one: Church Brew Works, which is a very cool old Catholic church built in 1902 restored and repurposed as a restaurant and brewpub. Check it out!

We can visit, look around and have a drink before it gets crowded. Hope you and your honey can make it!
