Ladies Day Out at Gilfillan Farm

Maybe you’ve been on the walking trail that circles the property, or seen the dressed scarecrows among the fields of crops while driving on Route 19, but have you seen inside the 1850′s Gilfillan farmhouse furnished with antiques, its outdoor kitchen, large barn, carriage house with 19th century sleighs and buggy, natural spring, stagecoach outhouse and more?

It’s TAX DAY and the anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination so we’ll pause in the library to look at the newspaper edition headlining his death, and mourn the loss of our income to taxes, too.

Bring a brown bag lunch and a beverage. Bring a $5 donation to the Historical Society of Upper St. Clair (unless you are a member already then it’s free) for the private tour of the Gilfillan Farm offered by descendants of the original owner.
For newcomers or old-timers, this private tour is a unique historical and cultural experience. The restored home and buildings are great local treasure. For more info, see www.hsusc.org

Please RSVP on website by Monday, April 13th. Parking information and more tour details will be sent to you after you RSVP.

March Book Club: Boy’s Life

Please join us at Carrie Allman’s home (2632 Lindenwood Drive) for March’s book club meeting to “discuss” Robert R. McCammon’s novel, Boy’s Life. Even if (or perhaps especially if) the last thing you read was Good Night Moon, please come for the laughter, food and drinks. I know this has been written often, but if you don’t have time to read the book please come anyway. Reading the book may be an easy way to create a common connection, but forming friendships certainly doesn’t involve required reading. Bringing yummy food or wine always helps, though. 😉 RSVP here.
